Q. Do I have to dry clean my Kozy Kushion?
A. No, not at all. The entire Kozy Kushion can be washed in a standard , large capacity washing machine. It can be dried in a standard dryer.

Q. I have noticed after I washed my Kozy Kushion several times that the surface texture is slightly different. Am I damaging the cushion by washing it?
A. No. The surface of fleece fabric normally changes texture slightly when repeatedly washed. If your Kozy Kushion is getting dirty very fast, you might want to consider using the covers so you don't have to wash the cushion so often.

Q. Do I need to use the covers with the Kozy Kushion?
A. The Kozy Kushion can be used with or without the covers. However, using the covers provides two advantages.
1. In the event that something spills on the Kozy Kushion, or your child spits up, changing the cover requires just seconds. It is also easier to wash a cover verses the entire cushion.
2. When your child lays on the Kozy Kushion with the cover, the cover naturally pulls the large end portions of the Kozy Kushion towards the center of the cushion providing additional support.

Q. What does the Kozy Kushion offer over the Boppy or My Brest Friend?*
A. The Kozy Kushion offers many advantages over both of these feeding cushions.
1. As can be seen, the Kozy Kushion is the first significant new nursing cushion design in over 10 years. Both the Boppy and My Brest Friend are made of stiff foam covered in a rough cotton covering. Both of these cushions are so firm, that a child could literally roll off the surface, and needless to say, they do not provide the most comfortable support for your child. The Kozy Kushion is super stuffed, super soft fleece. It is both soft and comfortable to you and your child.
2. The Kozy Kushion has a securing strap that easily fits any size figure (the Boppy does not have a strap, and the strap on My Brest Friend is designed for a very small figure). The securing strap is specially constructed into the Kozy Kushion to hold the cushion securely next to mom (or dad) virtually eliminating any gaps between the cushion and mom. A common problem with Boppy or My Brest Friend is that a baby can literally slide into the crack between the cushion and mom. This does not happen with the Kozy Kushion.
3. My Brest Friend supposedly raises the child's head for feeding (Boppy does not raise the head at all). If you examine My Brest Friend closely, you will see two small bumps in the surface of the cushion. These bumps are so small in area that they barely cover the back of your child's head. They provide so little elevation as to be almost unnoticeable. The ends of the Kozy Kushion provide head support over the entire length of the cushion. The head supports prop the child's head up almost 3 inches for easy latch-on or proper head support to keep the spine in proper alignment.
4. Both Boppy and My Brest Friend boast large support areas. However, both of these cushions are crescent shaped. This results in a large portion of the support area wrapped around to the side where it is of little use. This forces the child to generally lay on their side, wrapped around mom. The Kozy Kushion provides a large, rectangular support area directly in front of mom. A large symmetrical support area allows the child to feel comfortable without being wrapped around mom.
5. My Brest Friend has a back strap and Boppy holds onto mom simply by its crescent shape. Both the strap on My Brest Friend, and the opening in the Boppy assume a fairly slender mom. When the wearer stands with my Brest Friend, it sticks straight out and prevents mom from placing a sleeping child down in a crib. When the wearer stands with the Boppy, it tends to fall off. The strap on the Kozy Kushion fits up to a 56" waist. When the wearer stands with the Kozy Kushion, the cushion neatly folds down out of the way. When the wearer sits back down, the Kozy Kushion moves automatically back into position on mom's lap.
6. Both Boppy and My Brest Friend will provide covers by special order. These covers are fairly difficult to replace on the respective cushions. These covers are rarely provided by any retailer, and most customers do not even know they are available. The covers for the Kozy Kushion are sold along with the cushion. They change in just seconds. Changing them is so easy, it can be done with one hand in under one minute. This makes keeping the Kozy Kushion clean very easy!
7. While both the Boppy and My Brest Friend work as nursing/feeding cushions, neither is designed to also work as a shopping cart cushion. If you consider that on average, most moms nurse between 6 to 12 months, this means that the useful life of either of these two cushions is under 1 year. The Kozy Kushion can be used for children up to age 3 or 4. This means that the useful life of the Kozy Kushion is 3 to 8 times longer then these other two cushions. Additionally, while you probably could attempt to use the Boppy or My Brest Friend as a shopping cart cushion, they are lacking many of the unique features of the Kozy Kushion. These missing elements include: no side pads to protect young legs and hold the cushion in the cart, no enlarged end cushions to keep little heads from rolling off the side of the cushion.

Q. I do not see the Kozy Kushion in the major stores. Why not?
A. The Kozy Kushion is only available in stores where trained personnel can help you with these types of products. Ask your favorite specialty store to become a dealer if you do not see the Kozy Kushion in their store. They can call or email to dealers@kozykushion.com.

Q. Do I need to use the Nursing Start Tag?
A. No. The Nursing Start Tag is provided strictly as a convenience for you. You can use it to indicate the side you started feeding on, or which side to start on with the next feeding. There is no correct way to use it. Whatever method works best for you is the correct one to use.

Q. My child tends to pull on my breast, pulling it into his face when I am nursing him. Is there anything I can or should do about this?
A. While not common, this does happen. Pulling more of the breast to them provides a more secure feeling. There are a number of solutions to this situation.
1. Some children will feel more secure, and therefore relax more, simply by bracing their feet. Hold your child's feet against the large end portion of the Kozy Kushion near his feet. Help him learn that there is something to brace his feet on.
2. Make sure your knee is under the large end portion of the Kozy Kushion that is under your child's head. This will help elevate his head closer to your breast.
3. Fold the Kozy Kushion end pad under the large end tube under your baby's head under between your thigh and the large end tube. This will significantly raise your baby's head to your breast.
4. Put something suchas a small stool or prop under your feet. This will help elevate your child and tilt the cushion back towards you. This will roll your child back into you making him/her feel more secure.

Q. Is there a way to get my child's face closer to my breast without using an additional support?
A. Yes. If you sit in seat with a firm or hard base, or one that is relatively high, you will find that your legs tend to hang down lower, and therefore, your child's head will be lower. If you sit in a lower seat, or one that you tend to sink into, this will tend to raise your child's head relative to your breast.

Q. I have a small, premature child. Will the Kozy Kushion work for me?
A. Kozy Kushion will work very well for you. Small, or premature babies need even more support. The large end portions of the Kozy Kushion will provide significantly more head support than any of the competitive cushions, while still making your baby very comfortable and stable.

Q. Do I need to buckle the waist strap when I use the Kozy Kushion in the shopping cart?
A. No, it is not absolutely required. However, once a child finds they can push the cushion off the shopping cart, and mom or dad will retrieve it, they may find this to become an entertaining game. Attaching the strap in the shopping cart also helps to keep the Kozy Kushion in place on the cart.

Q. Do I need to put anything else in the shopping cart to keep my child away from the dirty bars?
A. Generally not. The Kozy Kushion isolates your child from the shopping cart in front and off to both sides. Unless your child can turn around in the shopping cart seat (this should be impossible if you have the seat belt secure), your child should be protected.

Q. I have seen other shopping cart barriers that are much thinner than the Kozy Kushion. Does it matter how thick the cushion is for use in the shopping cart?
A. Yes, it does matter. Many of the competitive products are 1" thick or less. Most children tend to get cranky and actually more physically active when they get tired. While it is almost impossible to provide a practical barrier that makes it impossible for a child to impact the bars of the shopping cart, the Kozy Kushion's super thick padding provides a significantly thicker barrier and protection than other devices.

Q. I have seen some other shopping cart protectors that you put into the cart before you put your child in, and your child then sits on them. Are these better than the Kozy Kushion?
A. Absolutely not! You should be weary of these types of protectors. Never use any device that forces you to put it into the cart with one hand, while you try to hold and contain your child with the other. This can be EXTREMELY dangerous! This type of device also forces you to feed the shopping cart safety belt through it in order to use the belt. This can be very cumbersome while holding a child in your arms. Moms that use this type of device often report that they simply don't use the cart seat belt because it is too hard to get it through the cushion while holding their child. The Kozy Kushion allows you to hold it with your arm off to the side, while you use both hands, and your full attention, to maneuvering your child safely into the shopping cart. Once your child is properly seated and belted into the shopping cart, your attention can be turned to placement of the Kozy Kushion. Additionally, any device that fits between your child's bottom and the shopping cart provides a non-standard surface for your child to get used to sitting on. The Kozy Kushion allows your child to get used to the feel of the standard shopping cart under them, while protecting them from the dirty bars.
